Our Area
The Charente Limousine
Exchange is based in Confolens which is in the Charente. We have
members from 3 main areas, the Charente - department 16, the Vienne -
department 86 and the Haute Vienne - department 87. The areas are
situated in the west and central regions of France.
The main administrative towns of each region are Angouleme, Poitiers
and Limoges and it's here that you will find all major services. It is
becoming more common for satellite offices of some services to be
opened in other local towns.
The weather in the Charente and the Vienne is mainly influenced by the
maritime climate. However, winters are cold - snow is rare but below
zero temperatures are a feature of the winter weather. The Haute
Vienne, as it's name implies is at a higher altitude and is influenced
by the Continental climate. Winters here can be harsh and snow is more
common.
There are regular flights to the UK from Poitiers and Limoges and the main operators in the region are Ryanair and Flybe.
The TGV - Train De Grande Vitesse - runs from Angouleme, via Poitiers
to Lille where a connection can be made with Eurostar to London. There
are also train services from Limoges, Angouleme and Poitiers to Paris,
where, if you change stations, you can connect with Eurostar.
