Tax
If you decide to come and live
in France permanently, you will be considered a tax resident and will
have to complete an annual French tax return. It is not a matter of
choice, if you are considered a tax resident, you will be required to
pay your tax under the French regulations.
You must let the British authorities know you are living abroad.

There are many similar and some different taxes in france. The taxes currently in place are:
- TAXE FONCIERES - similar to the Council tax
- TAXE D'HABITATION - a tax levied on the property
- CSG (Contributions Sociales Generalisee) / CRDS
(Contributions pour la remboursement de la dette sociale) / Prelevement
Social - these are additional payments requested from every qualifying
household in an attempt to recoup the overspending on health and social
costs.
- WEALTH TAX (L'impot sur la fortune) - payable if
your WORLD wide assets are valued at more than 732,000 Euros. (Figure
correct at January 2006)
- INCOME TAX - levied on declared income earned in France and the UK
- INHERITANCE TAX -From 2008 no tax is paid between
spouses but will be paid by anyone else inheriting an estate or
part thereof.
